The AGREE-S Reporting Checklist was developed by an international consortium, including guideline methodologists, surgeons with experience in guideline development, surgeons with experience as panel members in surgical guidelines, biostatisticians, representatives from the fields of General Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Head & Neck Surgery, and Urology; representatives from America, Asia, and low/middle income countries; representatives from the GRADE Working Group, the EQUATOR Network and GIN; a surgical journal editor, a guideline implementer, a national authority representative, and a patient representative. The project was developed under the supervision and in collaboration with a lead member of the AGREE Collaboration.
It was developed to assist guideline developers on surgical interventions in composing the guideline report and supporting tools through complete and transparent reporting. The objective is to enhance the use of guidelines on surgical interventions by stakeholders through assessment of its scope, methods, applicability and barriers. It may also be used by journal editors and peer reviewers to assess the completeness of reporting of the guideline publication.
The checklist structure is based upon the AGREE II instrument. It is comprised by 23 items, including 20 original or modified AGREE II items, and 3 new items unique to AGREE-S.
The AGREE-S Reporting Checklist has been registered in the EQUATOR Reporting Guideline Database Library. It will be available on the EQUATOR website following journal publication.
Three formats of the checklist are available:
- Microsoft Word
- Fillable and downloadable online format
